Body Shop Haul

Hey guys, sorry if I have been a little bit slow with getting new posts up, I’ve been on holiday for a week and only just got back into the swing of being at home and normal life.

A friend of mine recently introduced me into the world of The Body Shop and if I’m totally honest, I always saw it as a place to buy shower gel/soap/body lotion haha. Little did I know, they have expanded their range and now have quite a lovely makeup section…and being the makeup lover that I am, I had to try some out!

I didn’t buy all of this at once, it was 3 seperate orders as I didn’t want to get lots of bits and be disappointed but I was actually really impressed!

The Matte Lip Liquid’s are so nice, they have a lovely formula and dry down completely matte. Crete Carnation is a peachy nude which is a nice summer colour too. Windsor Rose is more of a brown toned nude.

The lightening drops are by far the most amazing thing The Body Shop does in my opinion, one drop takes any Foundation half a shade lighter and doesn’t change the original consistency at all!

Fresh Nude Foundation is a medium coverage but can be used to build up if you use a little more, it matches my skin tone so well now that I’ve got a bit of a tan and blends in so nicely!

Instablur is so good for putting on your t-zone, nose and chin and it blurs your pores and stops your make up sliding off in the heat!

I’m really loving a gold/bronze eye at the moment so I had to have the eyeshadow stick and the little eyeshadow pan, unfortunately I haven’t got anymore yet as I don’t know what other shades to put in the rest of the spaces.

The Vitamin E day and night creams have become a staple in my skincare routine, they’re so hydrating and have really helped with getting over my horrible dry phase! The Drops of Light Liquid Peel really surprised me, when I first used it, I didn’t know what to do with it as it was so runny but once you rub it in, it really gets rid of any dead skin and leaves you with a lovely complexion after!

Last but no means least…the Fuji Green Tea hand cream has been in my handbag with me since I got it and it smells divine!! It’s not greasy at all and sinks into the skin so quickly. The body scrub is another favourite and really kind to my sensitive skin and it smells good enough to eat!

Have you tried any of the Body Shop range?

Holiday Packing: Makeup

In a couple of weeks I’m going with my family to the Cotswolds, we’ve never been and I’m actually really looking forward to getting away from Norfolk and seeing some new sights!

I’m now starting to think about packing and what I might need…and as always, I got slightly over the top with EVERYTHING! I know I’m a little bit ahead but I’m trying to be organised!

This is what makeup I will be taking with me 🙂

Like I said…it’s a lot…but better to be prepared.

For my face I’ve popped in my trusty  Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation and the Bourjois Healthy Mix too because it’s a shade darker. I’ve also packed my Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser for the days where I’m not doing much. I’ve managed to draw the line at two Concealers; Collection Lasting Perfection and Maybelline Fit Me.

Of course I had to put in my Stay Matte powder, Hoola bronzer and my new contour kit by Sleek.

For eyes, brows and highlight I’ve got my The Falsies Push Up Angel and a new Volume Shake by Rimmel to try out, the only eyeliner I use L’Oreal Super Slim. I had to put in my new Morphe 12NB palette as it’s so versatile (and totally gorgeous!). I also have my Brow Archery from Soap&Glory and a mini Gimme Brow to help set in place and pop a little more colour in. It had to be the Sleek Solstice palette for highlight didn’t it??! I mean look at it, it’s so pretty!!

Last but not least, I’ve got my Palmers Cocoa Butter for daytime and Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipstick I. Candy K for a daytime to evening lip!

My Favourite Makeup Brushes

Makeup brushes really are my beauty obsession…in the last couple of years my collection has grown. Here are some of my favourites and what I use them for (usually not what they’re intended for I must add!)

From left to right…

Morphe B23 – This one is actually a mascara spoolie but I use it to brush and tame my eyebrows before I use any product.

Bare Minerals Full Flawless Face Brush – Again…another brush I use differently. This is for mineral foundation but I use it for setting my face with powder.

Zoeva 102 Silk Finish – Perfect for buffing in liquid foundation and creating a flawless, light base.

Morphe M335 – I highly recommend this brush for concealer, it’s soft enough to use for under the eyes and small enough for round the nose.

Real Techniques Contour Brush – I actually find this too big for contour so I use it for setting under my eyes with powder.

Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush – Now this is the one I use for contour, I find it’s the perfect size for my face and doesn’t pick up lots of product.

Morphe M139 – A lovely brush for blending out the crease and creating a perfect eye.

Morphe G27 – This is meant to be a pencil brush for the crease but I use it for the lower lash line, it gets really close to the lashes with eyeshadow, especially if I’m going for a smoky eye.

Real Techniques Shading Brush – Perfect for packing on eyeshadow and ideal for my inner corner and brow bone for a little highlight.

I don’t have a specific favourite brand but I do really like Morphe for their price and sheer volume of choices.

Charles Worthington Detangling Mist

Fed up with knotty hair? Tired of tangles and frizz? I only had to step in the shower and poof (yes poof!!) my hair was in a massive knotted mess.

That my friends was before I found Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Detangling Mist, which is a fine, weightless spray that protects hair from heat styling upto 230 degrees and helps detangle hair in just a few seconds. Priced at £5.99 it’s a bargain as well as a hair saver!

Handcream Favourites

I love a good Hand cream (everyone does right??), especially in the colder months when my skin isn’t 100%. Here are some of my tried and tested favourites.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula

If you haven’t tried this yet, you need to, especially just before bed when you’re not going to be needing to touch anything as I find it quite greasy on my skin…but boy when I wake up in the morning, my hands are so much softer and my skin is definitely hydrated!!

Aveeno Daily Moisturising

Another greasy formula but amazing at keeping skin soft and smooth, a little goes a long way with this one (trust me, I’ve used more than I needed to and spent about 20 minsutes getting it to soak into my skin) and the scent is lovely.

No.7 Protect and Perfect

No.7 is brilliant for all things skincare and this hand cream is no exception, it soaks in beautifully and even has SPF 15!! I will say it is on the pricey end of the scale for a hand cream but it’s so worth it and it lasts absolutely ages, I think I’ve been using this one for about 4 months and there is still under half left.

Lotil Original

Ahh my favourite…I have so much love for this as it’s one of those products that is used by the whole family, my nan used it and so does my mum and aunties, it’s got what I would call an “old fashioned” scent but its AMAZING, I had really dry horrible hands over the winter and this was my saviour, after 4 days, my hand were hydrated, soft and no cracks at all!

Top 3 Drugstore Concealers

I’ve tried many Concealers over the years and because I’m quite pale, I find it really hard to match them to my skin tone, they’re usually too dark. Here are the ones that work for me.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is my favourite for covering blemishes and redness, I am shade 01 Fair, other shades in the range are; 02 Cool Medium, 03 Warm Medium and 04 Dark and it’s so affordable too, only £4.19!!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer is one that I recently purchased, I had heard good things about it but could never get hold of it in the right shade!! I use this under my eyes as I find it really brightens up my under eye area and covers any dark circles. I’m shade Ivory which is perfect. Other shades are True Ivory, Classic Beige and Soft Beige. Priced at £5.49.

L’Oréal True Match Concealer is lovely if you want a thinner concealer for good skin days, it’s not too heavy and I use it when I’m only using a tinted moisturiser. My shade is Vanilla, other shades are Cream, Natural Beige and Sand. Priced at £6.99.

All budget friendly and brilliant higher end alternatives.

Do you have any Concealers that you think are worth trying?

Nude Liquid Lipstick Favourites

Who doesn’t love a nude lip? (I feel like the word “nude” is going to be said A LOT!!!!) I mean, it’s practical AND pretty! Here are a few of my favourites 🙂

L – R; Koko K, Shooting Star, Embellishment, Candy K & Celebrity Skin.

The Kylie Cosmetics are at the top of my list of liquid lipsticks to buy, they’re creamy, dry down nicely to a matte finish and smudge proof. The colours I have are Candy K which is a brown toned nude and Koko K which is a pink toned nude.

Next up is NYX Lip Lingerie in Embellishment, I have worn this a few times, but as it’s a purple nude, it suits me more in the evenings than the daytime.

Celebrity Skin from Jeffree Star Cosmetics is a lovely colour, it’s more brown toned and goes really well with all skin tones. The packaging is my favourite out of all and even has a “lock” cap, which I find really good!

Rimmel are brilliant for lip colours and the Apocalips range is no exception, I wore this to a party and got lots of compliments on how pretty it was. It’s a peachy nude and has absolutely amazing staying power, it doesn’t budge at all!

Hope you enjoyed reading!
