Makeup Haul – Tarte, Elf and More!

Hey guys,

I’ve been really trying not to buy any new makeup, as I’ve got so much I need to use already…but, I had a little moment in Superdrug and a few things fell into my basket! I also finally managed to get a Tarte Shape Tape concealer, which I had been waiting weeks for, thank god for waitlist on QVC!

This is what I snapped up;

Freedom Pro HD Refillable Magnetic Palette
What more could you want for £5! It’s magnetic, the mirror on it is massive and you can fit a fair few pans in it. I also got the Pro Contour in 01, the eyeshadow refills in Matte 01, 05, 07 and 08, at £2 each, you can’t complain!

e.l.f Flawless Finish Foundation
It has taken me so so long to be able to get this, as everytime I go to Superdrug, they are always sold out in my shade (Porcelain 111). It matches my skin really well and blends so nicely with my sponge. It’s a semi-Matte finish and has SPF 15 too!

Collection Lasting Perfection Green Correction Concealer & MUA Cover & Conceal Wand
I’ve been using green correction concealer for a while as I have a lot of redness, mainly from blemishes. This one is definitely one of my favourites, it’s so pigmented and really covers any redness so well and I don’t have to use as much concealer after Foundation.

The MUA concealer is in the shade Fair, it’s so nice for under the eyes and blends out really well!

Tanya Burr Peonies Please Illuminating Powder
Oh how I love this powder, I use it for blush and as a slight highlight too, it’s so pretty and gives a subtle pink glow. It’s such a gorgeous colour and the packaging is so lovely.

The Body Shop Eye Colour Stick & Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner
I’m really getting into eyeshadow sticks, especially these from The Body Shop, they’re so creamy and pigmented and the colour pay off is so good! I have two now and this one called Cairo Granite is my favourite, especially for Autumn.

Supercat has fast become a firm fave pen eyeliner, its jet black and I can create perfect flicks even with my glasses off (which if you know how bad my vision is, it’s amazing!)

Tarte Shape Tape
I have been waiting for this to come back in stock for soooooo long! Both of the lightest shades have been on waitlist with QVC, but I finally managed to snag one, although it’s not the lightest shade which i wanted for under the eyes, it’s in shade Light, which is pretty close to my skintone. I will be ordering the Fair one when it comes back in stock as I absolutely love the formula and how it covers and blends so well. Definitely worth purchasing if you love a thick creamy concealer.

Autumn Nail Colours

Hey guys,

Now we’re officially in my favourite season, Autumn!! It’s the time of the year for cosy jumpers, scarves, blankets, hot chocolates AND gorgeous nail vanishes!

I’ve had a little look in my collection and these are the colours i’m loving this Autumn.

The taupe/nude is Tanya Burr Penguin Chic, I feel it really flatters my skin tone and it’s just a lovely colour if you’re feeling a nude nail.

The black is Barry M “Black”, epic name right?! But it’s a great formula and is opaque after 2 coats. I sometimes use this as a base for some nail art too!

The green is a metallic shade by Avon called Noir Emerald, it’s one of my favourite Avon colours and really looks nice with a plain outfit.

The pink/burgundy colour is Bahama Mama from Essie and it’s the one  I have on my toes every time! It’s just the perfect colour!

And finally the blue is Mezmerised by Essie, as what a gorgeous shade it is, I love it! It goes with many outfits, especially blue checked shirts.

What are your favourite things about Autumn?

How I Make My Fine Hair Look Thicker

Wouldn’t you love to be one of those girls with thick, gorgeous hair…yeah, me too. Unfortunately I have really fine hair…it’s that fine, I can wrap a hair band round about 4 times!

These are the tricks I use to make my hair look and feel thicker.

Volumising/thickening shampoo and conditioner are a must, the ones I use are Aussie Volume Shampoo and  Aussie Volume Conditioner, which contain Australian Hops, which is said to have proteins in to help coat and build up your hair, it also makes your hair smell amazing too!  I’ve also found that the Dove Oxygen Moisture range is fab! Although i only use it once a week as it makes my hair a bit more greasy than the Aussie duo!

When conditioning, don’t put any in the roots otherwise it will weigh your hair down and make it look flat and heavy!

After washing, I spray a little Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Detangling Mist in the mid lengths to ends as my hair gets soooo knotty when it’s wet!

Try to let your hair air dry as much as possible but if you can’t, dry it upside down to create more volume!

On wash free day, I use Colab Active Dry Shampoo, Colab is the only brand I find that really does soak up all the grease and make it look clean and the bonus of it smelling amazing all day! I usually put it in the night before and a little in the morning so that it’s working mostly overnight (big time saver in the mornings!)

All of these things together have made my hair so much thicker and healthier looking. The photos below are before and after washing and styling.

Five Product Face

I love a quick make up day…especially you’ve got a toddler running riot and you want to look more…human/put together/alive.

These are the five products that I reach for when I’ve got to be out of the house fast and looking presentable.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

I use the shade 52 Vanilla, which is one of the lightest shades, usually I have a brush and then go over it with a sponge after to make sure it looks flawless but on busy days, I just pop it on with a sponge and it gives good coverage with a dewy natural finish.

Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzer
Ohhhh how I love this, I actually cannot explain how happy I am to have this beauty now, it’s just perfect for my pale skin. I sweep it on my cheeks and forehead with the Hoola Broze and Contour Brush for a light bronzed glow.

MAC Dusky Rose Palette
I love this little palette for a quick and easy eye, with such beautiful shades for day and night, my go to colours are the middle right all over the lid and bottom right in the crease to define.

Benefit KaBrow
I use this little gem everyday, I can’t leave the house without doing my brows and this just applies with such ease. I love how it shapes my eyebrows and if you use a small angled brush, it looks like real hairs without too much work.

L’Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara
I recently got this on a little trip to boots and as much as I love my Lash Sculpt, I think its been replaced by this beauty! The brush is amazing and builds up my lashes evenly without looking too spidery and overdone. The most amazing thing is, although it isn’t waterproof, it still doesn’t transfer, even after having it on all day!

What are your go to products on a rushed day?

Hoola Lite and Hoola Bronzing Brush Review

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the original Hoola, but when I heard that they were bringing out a Lite one for us pale skinned beauties, I knew I had to have it, as I spend at least 75% of my year really quite pale and Hoola just looks too orange toned for my skin…but Hoola Lite, well, you’ll see in the photo below, the difference on my skin! It’s so much nicer for me!

The Bronzing and Contour Brush is so good, it allows you to have a natural application but also build the colour if that’s what you prefer! I never would have thought I would spend £18.50 on a brush but once I had read the reviews and actually used it at the Benefit counter, I knew it would be worth the investment.

The packaging for the bronzer is still cardboard but it’s still quite nice and it has the magnet to keep it closed and it stops any dust/dirt getting in, obviously it’s what the product is like rather than what it’s in!

Overall, I think this duo is going to be my holy grail for Bronzing, I’ve tried a lot and nothing comes close to the colour and application with these two!

What bronzer/Contour do you use?

Let me know in the comments 🙂

All about Brush Guards

Hey guys,

When it comes to looking after my make up brushes, I’m a bit of a neat/clean freak. I like to wash my brushes weekly if I have the time. I mean, why spend all that money on them and not look after them?!

So when I found these little gems online, I knew I had to have some!

I’m talking about Brush Guards…those little mesh tubes that keep your brushes in shape and stop them getting ruined! I found mine on Amazon for the bargain price of £3.99 for 50!! They are all one size but as they’re mesh, they fit my smallest eyeshadow brushes to my larger powder/blush brushes!

These are definitely a great addition to anyone’s beauty kit, especially for travelling with brushes or going on holiday!

Let me know if you try some!

Morphe 12NB Review and Swatches

After hearing so many good reviews on the Morphe eyeshadows, I had to give them I try…but as much as I loved the idea of getting one of the bigger palettes, I’m not sure I would get the full use out of a 35. So i decided to try out the 12NB and my god I’m glad I did!

It’s like Morphe picked the best colours out of the 35O and put them in the 12NB (the NB means Natural Beauty!)

I’ve swatched them all for you but please excuse the fact that they’re on paper, my tan is all over the place and some of the colours didn’t show up as well when I tried them on my arm.

There are 9 matte shades and 3 shimmer shades. At first I was a little dubious with the shimmery ones as I’ve had some issues in the past with fall out and poor colour pay off but these are simply lovely, they blend so easily and add a lovely touch of sparkle to any look. The matte shades are amazing, so pigmented and the colours just flow to create a stunning eye, whether it be for day or night time.

I’m so impressed with this palette that I might have to try out the other smaller 12 pan palette, the 12S!!
Do you love Morphe eyeshadows? Have you got any recommendations for other palettes to try? Let me know in the comments!
